Major Wood Construction Complements Hospital Design

Événement passé

The presentation will describe the challenges and strategies employed to engage significant wood construction in one of the most untraditional applications … major hospital work.

A unique mist fire suppression system used at the Credit Valley Hospital project was the first application of this technique in North America, and satisfied the demanding regulations associated with such an occupancy constructed with wood.
.
Examples of quite different approaches to structure at recent projects at Thunder Bay, Toronto, North Bay and Tobago will demonstrate the manner in which Canadian engineers and architects have been able to take advantage of efficient wood designs and at the same time contribute a calming and what has been described as a therapeutic environment.
