BC Place has been refitted with the world’s largest retractable fabric roof. The structure consists of 36 new, 185 ft tall masts sitting on top of the existing structure. The masts are inclined at 20 degrees outwarrds from the stadium. Each mast supports a 110 deep cable net that tapers down to 10 ft and meets at the central node. The cable nets support a retractable fabric roof that collapse under the central node into a hung membrane enclosure. The masts are counterbalanced by a circumferencial tension ring located into the stadium close to the mast base and by a compression ring located outside the stadium at about a quarter height of the mast. David Campbell began working with Geiger Associates in 1979 and was made an Associate and head of the Vancouver Office in 1982. He is one of the founding principals of Geiger Engineers and has managed the firm as its Chief Executive Officer since its beginning. In his twenty six years of engineering practice, he has had a significant role in over 25 large spectator sports facilities, including four domed stadia.
He is a member of IASS, a member of the ASCE Special Structures Committee as well as a member of the Stadium Managers Association and the Entertainment Services and Technology Association. David has authored numerous technical papers on long-span and sports facility structures.
Serge Dussault a obtenu son diplôme en génie civil de l'Université de Sherbrooke et sa maîtrise de génie civil de l'Université McGill. Il est responsable de l’ingénierie et du dessin des grands projets et projets de poutrelles et pontages métalliques au Canada depuis son retour des États-Unis en 2002.
